Satoo New Construction Real Estate and Show Homes
The People and The Real Estate in Satoo
Satoo is a peaceful, highly residential and young demographic community nestled in the southeast quadrant of the city. It is one of 27 neighbourhoods that constitute the Mill Woods area of Edmonton and also one of three that make up the community of Knottwood. And the area has an abundance of natural beauty that lends an urban-park vibe to the community.
On the interior, the streets have a curvilinear and keyhole design, which drives traffic efficiently through the neighbourhood, while relegating non-residential traffic to the major roadways encircling the vicinity. Affordable residences dot the community, perfect for young growing families and first-time homeowners.
At the heart of this community lies a multipurpose school, recreational site, and a shopping centre, and the neighbourhood is also blessed with strategically positioned pathways and a park-like pipeline, which provide its residents with plenty of opportunities to cycle or walk within its safe confines. While Satoo has its own shopping centre, a plethora of commercial facilities and conveniences are sprinkled throughout the surrounding neighbourhoods as well, so residents in the area enjoy an array of amenities right at their doorstep.
The New Community of Satoo
Exceptionally situated, Satoo is flanked on the south and north by the Anthony Henday Drive and 23 Avenue while 91 and 80 Streets border the community on west and east. So commuting to the pulsating hub of the city’s commercial area and to neighbouring communities is a breeze.
Plus, the area has some good transit options as well. Since the Mill Woods Transit Centre is only 8 minutes away, residents have a good alternative transport solution close by.
Your New Satoo Home in Edmonton
The neighbourhood was named in honour of Chief Satoo, who was a Cree Indian Chief and serves as a reminder of area’s first settlers, and the Mill Woods area was a Papachase Indian Reserve from 1876 to 1891.
In 1970, since serviced real estate prices were on the incline, the Government of Alberta brought the Mill Woods land bank under its purview. Within a year, an urban development plan was designed and the city council acquired land, subdivided it and commenced selling residential and commercial building lots. Then in 1974, residential construction ensued and was completed about a decade later transforming the neighbourhood into the beautiful homeowner haven it is today.
The comfortable residences in Satoo predominately comprise of single-family dwellings. While three out of every four addresses make up this type of residential abode, there is a blend of duplexes and row houses in the area as well, so there are a good number of options to cater to varying lifestyle requirements. Furthermore, approximately 80% of the residences are homeowner occupied and the remaining are tenanted, which means the community is perfect for investors too.
Education needs of the children in the neighbourhood are meet by Satoo Elementary School and Dan Knott Junior High School, both of which are governed by the Edmonton Public School System. In addition, there is an array of good educational establishments in neighbouring communities as well, so there are plenty of options to choose from.
