The neighbourhood of Ormsby Place, Edmonton is in a great part of West Edmonton with Anthony Henday Drive to the west providing a comfortable route to the southern reaches of the city as well as to Edmonton International Airport. To the east of the Ormsby Place community lies 178 Street and to its north is 69 Avenue.

This continued through the 1980s and by the early 2000s much of present-day Ormsby Place was in existence. The western section is relatively newer than the eastern section and has a distinctly different layout and street pattern. Sitting close to the transportation/utility corridor, the western third of the Ormsby Place neighbourhood has curvilinear streets coming off from Ormsby Road. Here, houses have developed around the park that lies at its heart. By contrast, in eastern Ormsby Place, you’ll notice houses are built on cul-de-sac roads and inter-connected with smaller roads. The Ormsby Elementary School that is run by the Edmonton Public School System caters to families with elementary school-age children. Adjoining neighbourhoods offer junior and high school education. Universities and colleges in the city’s downtown are accessible by bus and are just a 10 to 12-minute drive away along Whitemud Drive.
The Ormsby Place locality is named after A.W. Ormsby, City Commissioner of Edmonton between 1918 and 1920 and the man responsible for the current grid system of street numbering that’s become the hallmark of Edmonton neighbourhoods.
