Lynnwood, Edmonton is bordered by Whitemud Drive to its south, 87 Avenue to its north, 149 Street to its east, and 159 street to its west. Built in a modified grid pattern the layout of the Lynnwood, Edmonton community accommodates the river valley system.

For schooling, Lynnwood area families have a choice of the Edmonton Public School System run Lynnwood Elementary School and Our Lady of Victories Catholic Elementary School. Both these elementary schools are a short walk or drive from most Lynnwood homes. Neighbouring community Laurier Heights and Parkview have several junior high schools options, while West Meadowlark Park has high schools that serve the area.

The Lynnwood Community League has been around since the 1960s, making it a long-running community league that is actively involved in bringing residents together for events, activities, and sports. The Christmas party, sleigh rides, paint parties, movie nights, and regular community events keep life in this neighbourhood vibrant and fun and make it easy to get to know your neighbours. 

From Lynnwood, Edmonton it is easy to head to places of interest like Fort Edmonton Park, via Whitemud Drive, where you can see history come to life. Another fabulous place to get into the spirit of local culture and art is the Art Gallery of Alberta. This beautiful public gallery showcases thousands of works of art including paintings, photographs, sculptures, and installations by the finest Canadian artists. The Royal Alberta Museum is one of the country’s finest and has spaces dedicated to indigenous studies, natural history, western Canadian history, earth sciences, political history, military history, and more. 

Lynnwood sits close to the iconic North Saskatchewan River, offering residents prime access to the parklands running alongside the river valley system. Pick out a new urban trail each week and go exploring on your own, with family, or a newfound friend from the Lynnwood community. There’s scope for birdwatching in Edmonton, plus some scenic spots to open a picnic basket and relax with company or a good book. In winter, Lynnwood residents see a new side to the local landscape - the white snow-dusted scenery invites you to try a wintertime trail. When the blanket of snow is thick enough, you could even go skiing right here in Edmonton! For some organized time closer to nature, the Edmonton Valley Zoo located on the edge of this part of Edmonton is just perfect. For Lynnwood residents’ everyday shopping needs, the commercial development of Meadowlark Mall is adequate. For high street shopping or a mall experience, Edmonton has plenty on offer. Take your pick from the interesting local boutiques of Old Strathcona and Whyte Avenue or big-name national and global brands at shopping meccas like West Edmonton Mall. The latter is just 7 minutes away - so it’s easy to drive any lingering boredom away at will! The mall has plenty of retail options, eateries, cafes, and the beloved amusement park and water park with all manner of ride on offer. 

Another local favourite activity is a day out at the farmers’ markets of Edmonton. You might just bump into a like-minded Lynnwood resident or two when you head to these markets to get fresh produce, try some delicious food, or go hunting for pretty things for your home! The Callingwood Farmers’ Market and Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market are a great place to start.
