Prior to the 1900s, Grandview Heights was owned by the family of Edmonton’s first mayor, Matthew McCauley. The breathtaking view of the Saskatchewan River and the Whitemud Creek Valley brought the area its name, and in the early 1900s, the area was christened ‘Grandview Heights.’ It was only in 1913 that Grandview Heights was annexed into the city of Edmonton, but until the early 1960s, it remained beyond the limits of urban residential development.

There are still a lot of executive-style homes on the street with mature landscaping.
