Dunluce is a residential neighbourhood located in the Castledowns area of north Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  The serene neighbourhood was one of the areas that were expanded in the Castle Downs region in 1971.  Wide-ranging types of residences, affordable pricing and convenient location make Dunluce a highly desirable destination for potential home buyers.

The neighbourhood is flanked by 127 Street to the west, Castledowns Road to the east, 112 Street to the northeast, 153 Avenue on the south while 167 Avenue borders the northern region of Dunluce.    

The New Community of Dunluce

Development of Dunluce real estate began in the 1970s and some residences were built thereafter. It was the economic boom driven by oil during the 1970s that led to the expansion of Edmonton’s boundaries. The boundaries were expanded to house the anticipated population growth.

In 1971, the entire Lake District and Castle Downs area were annexed to the City of Edmonton. Dunluce neighbourhood, among many other neighbourhoods, is part of the outline plan for Castle Downs. In 1974, the Outline Plan for real estate development of Dunluce was approved and most of the construction was completed in the 1980s.

Castle Downs area has a tradition of naming real estate developments after famous castles. In keeping with this tradition, Dunluce was named after a castle located in Ireland on the north coast.

Apart from these, St. Lucy Catholic Elementary School run by Edmonton Catholic School System also serves the community of Dunluce.

Dunluce real estate residents have easy access to downtown Edmonton via 97 Street NW and it takes just 22 minutes to get to the downtown.
